Google Nexus 7 review, specs, and price

Google Nexus 7, which runs the latest version of Android, Jelly Bean, is now out in the market with a price tag of $199. Like other Nexus-branded devices, this seven-inch tablet is not actually manufactured by Google. As they have done with Samsung, HTC and Motorola in the past, the company partnered with Asus to design and manufacture its tablet. It is said to be more of an effort to stomp out Amazon's Kindle than to dethrone Apple's iPad in the battle for tablet supremacy.

One of Nexus 7's feature is that it will always have the latest version of Android running on it. Unlike other Android smartphones and tablets, which rely on their makers for update, the Nexus 7 will be upgraded by Google itself. In fact this early, it recently released the first update to the device, upgrading it from Android 4.1.0 to 4.1.1.

On the hardware side, Google Nexus 7 is powered by a quad-core NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 processor with 1GB RAM and either 8GB or 16GB of onboard storage. Google claims that "everything is faster – pages load quickly, gameplay is smooth and responsive, and running multiple apps is a breeze."
The seven-inch 1200 x 800 HD backlit IPS display, which is protected by scratch resistant Corning® glass, packs a respectable 216 pixels per inch onto the screen. It may not be that much  but with its price, users will have little to complain about.
