Is Juan Manuel Marquez a cheater? [Video]

Written By Marvs on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 | Be the first to comment!

The recently concluded third encounter between Pacquiao and Marquez could be one of the most controversial and debatable win for Pacman. Every boxing fans who watched the fight have their own opinions and explanations on who actually won. Many were not pleased about Pacquiao’s performance last November 12.

Marquez's foot stopper technique on Pacquiao?

One reason that surfaced why Manny was not able to do much damage to Marquez is the accusation that Juan Manuel cheated by repeatedly stepping on the foot of Pacquiao. This foot stopper technique was visible on different rounds of the entire fight. This technique supposedly gave Marquez the upper hand every time he clashes with Pacquiao. Whether intentional or not you’ll be the judge.

Meanwhile, Ben Thompson had a chance to ask Floyd Mayweather’s view about the Pacquiao-Marquez fight. Typical of Mayweather, he again belittle Manny with his answers to the said interview. When Thompson asked Floyd if there’s a chance that the two of them may actually fight next, here’s FM’s reply:

What I don’t really understand is, I know Manny Pacquiao can’t really speak much because he don’t really understand English, but he  may know a few words because he do live in the States from time to time, so…I personally think it’s Bob Arum having a vendetta. I think he’s very upset with me because, you know, I exposed and I opened the world’s eyes up to different things. I never officially came out and said that I believed Manny Pacquiao is on steroids or that I believe he’s on enhancement drugs; I never came out and said that he actually is. I only stated my  opinion on what I believe in.”

Pacquiao wins over Marquez, is a fight with Mayweather next?

Written By Marvs on Sunday, November 13, 2011 | Be the first to comment!

After the final bell of the twelve rounds of intense battle between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, Michael Buffer announced the judges’ scorecards:114-114 first. Then 115-113 and 116-112 to the winner… and still… WBO welterweight champion of the world… Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao!

Pacquiao VS Marquez 3 results

Boos came down over the floor as soon as the announcement was made in the largely pro Marquez crowd. It could have ended up in another draw if Pacman was not able to win the last 5 rounds. Marquez was able to do a good job of staying away from Pacquiao’s power and still able to land some very good shots to Manny. The Mexican fought a much wiser fight now unlike the two previous fights that he went toe to toe with the Filipino fighter.

I was actually worried that the first half of the fight was going into Marquez’s side as he keeps on moving forward with Pacquiao not landing most of his power shots. I thought that only a knockdown could turn the tide to Manny’s side.

Fortunately, even after a cut in the right eye that came from  a head butt in the tenth round, Pacquiao was able to land some beautiful shots until the last round on the now weary Marquez.

With Pacquiao’s win over Marquez, will Floyd Mayweather keep his word about a fight with the Filipino champ next year as what he blabbered about in his previous press release?

Pacquiao VS Mayweather Fight on May 5th

Written By Marvs on Friday, November 4, 2011 | 2 comments so far

Pacquiao VS Mayweather Fight on May 5th? Well, this is at least what Floyd Mayweather is blabbing about recently and this is what he wanted the public to believe. The announcement is somewhat suspicious as we all know that the Pacquiao-Marquez III fight is set to happen next week at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Welterweight Championship World Title belt, Saturday, November 12 (Sunday, November 13 Philippine time). Floyd is deploying his usual antics of stealing the limelight from Pacman the same thing he did previously.

Pacquiao vs Mayweather

If my memory serves me right, hours before the Pacquiao-Hatton fight at the MGM in May 2009, Mayweather announced at a news conference that he was ending a two-year retirement and will fight Juan Manuel Marquez in his return to the ring. Then back in September 2010, Floyd released a video on the internet insulting Pacquiao, mocking Asian people and using a homosexual slur; and this all happened while Pacman is busy promoting his November fight against Antonio Margarito.

If Floyd Mayweather and his camp is dead serious about a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, then they should work on it by talking to Pacquiao’s camp in private first before making any such bogus announcement in the media. It’s obvious that Floyd is jealous of Manny when it comes to media attention that’s why he’s using Pacman to gain some media exposure. People are not laughing anymore of his clowning around pretending that he’s the best pound for pound boxer in the world. It’s an act he keeps on repeating and it’s also an act he should retire.

I hope I’m wrong but I believe a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight isn’t going to happen. Why? Because Floyd knows he’s going to get beaten by Manny. Mayweather is contented in fighting guys like Victor Ortiz whom he’s sure that he’ll beat and still make $25 million out of it.

New Zealand Captures Rugby World Cup 2011

Written By Marvs on Sunday, October 23, 2011 | 2 comments so far

Hosts New Zealand defeated France and captures the Rugby World Cup final that was held in Auckland, New Zealand. This is the second time that they won the William Web Ellis trophy, which they first captured in 1987.

The All Blacks 5-0 lead in the first half of the match then scored another 3 points due to a penalty in the second half. Seems like it’s an easy victory but France came back strong with sustained attacks where they almost succeeded but still came in short at the final whistle where New Zealand triumphed with 8-7 score.

The Rugby World Cup finals was watched by 61,000 rugby fans inside the Eden Park Stadium.

There were also an estimated 150,000 people who have gathered to watch the final game on giant screens, wild celebrations broke out after the match ended.

Ateneo Blue Eagles Did A Four-peat!

Written By Marvs on Sunday, October 2, 2011 | 2 comments so far

The Ateneo Blue Eagles did a “four-peat” with their demolition of the FEU Tamaraws and made history after winning the UAAP 74 men’s basketball finals at the Araneta Coliseum, Saturday  wrapping up their quest for a fourth straight championship.

Ateneo defeated Far Eastern University, 82-69, for a 2-game sweep that thwarted FEU’s attempt to unseat them. The Tamaraws also lost the championship to the Blue Eagles last year.

Kiefer Ravena and Finals MVP Nico Salva put the finishing touches to a historic feat during the third period as the Blue Eagles became the fourth team in the UAAP to nail four straight crowns.

Oscar Dela Hoya Admits Drag Photos Scandal Was Him

Written By Marvs on Friday, September 2, 2011 | 2 comments so far

Oscar Dela Hoya finally admitted that the scandal that surfaced four years ago about photos of a male dressed in drag were really him.

For those of you unfamiliar with the story, back in 2007 pictures circulated on the web of the Golden Boy wearing fishnets, a super mesh shirt, a brown wig and black high heels while posing for the camera.

Dela Hoya vehemently denied that those pictures were him and launched a massive media campaign disputing the authenticity of the said photos. He even hired an image expert who claimed that the images were fakes.

Oscar's camp accused stripper Milana Dravnel, with whom he posed in some of the images, as the one who released the photos and sold them for an undisclosed amount.

Dravnel who had an eight-month affair with the married De La Hoya ended in late 2007.

But in a new interview with Univision, a Spanish-language television network in the US, Oscar has finally admitted that the photos were him.
